Resources for learning German in the UK

Goethe-Institut London & Glasgow

Located in the centre of London’s Exhibiton Road, Goethe-Institut London is a one-stop-shop for all things German in the UK. Their unique culture and language offers include support for schools and teachers, language lessons for adults, digital offers including German practice sessions for pupils and various other creative activities.

If London seems a little out of the way, you can also visit the Goethe-Institut Glasgow. It offers cultural events, language courses and exams, and much more.

DAAD

For almost seven decades the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) has been offering grants and scholarship opportunities for exchange to German and international students, researchers and academics alike. It supports the internationalisation of German universities, promotes German studies and the German language in the UK and worldwide.

UK-German Connection

Bringing young people together lies at the heart of the bilateral government initiative for youth and school links UK-German Connection. Celebrating its 15th birthday this year, UKGC has been offering funding, support, advice and a dedicated linking service for UK-German activities involving schools and youth groups.

Saturday schools

Bilingual families in the UK, children and parents, have the opportunity to practice their German in one of the 30 German Saturday Schools. Contact the school in your area here, or join the Online Saturday School.
